Heirodule
Transformed Entity
Description
According to Pairborn belief, the transformation begins only after an individual accepts an unknown offer promising direct communion with The All. Subsequent accounts describe a gradual physical and psychological change culminating in the appearance of the Hierodule.
Summary
The Hierodule is a humanoid figure described in Pairborn tradition as emerging from individuals afflicted by a Dyad Wound, the irreversible loss of one half of a twin pair. Although never conclusively documented, its appearance is consistently associated with violence, disappearance, and periods of profound unrest.
Historical Context
References to the Hierodule are exceedingly rare, appearing primarily in connection with the disputed Northwood Killings of 1812 and a second series of events during the 1970s. Nearly every subsequent account traces its understanding of the creature to one of these two events.
Recorded Observations
Accounts consistently describe the Hierodule as completing its transformation through repeated acts of predation, culminating in the cocooning and consumption of a human victim. Surviving descriptions also attribute elongated limbs, antlers, and an unfinished, pale face to the fully transformed figure.
Interpretations
Whether the Hierodule existed as described cannot be determined. The remarkable consistency of its transformation across independent accounts suggests the tradition served as both a warning against exploiting a Dyad Wound and an explanation for acts of otherwise incomprehensible violence.
